Job Description

The Director, International Store Development, is responsible for building and leading Vuori’s international development capability as the global store pipeline accelerates. Store Design Management and Construction are the two key functions that role up to this role, and an ideal candidate will have experience leading both functions globally. This role leads international development strategy and execution across owned retail and franchise stores, while maintaining strong collaboration and knowledge sharing with the Domestic Development team. The role oversees store design management, construction coordination, project governance, and market readiness from feasibility through post-opening review. This leader will help Vuori scale dedicated international development resources without creating silos, ensuring that Domestic and International Development continue to operate as one connected development community sharing best practices, prototype learnings, cost engineering insights, vendor knowledge, and operational watchouts. 

What you'll get to do:

• Lead international development strategy and execution across Vuori’s global store pipeline, with China as the priority given its rapid growth plans, but also a focus on building out stores in Europe and in partnership with Franchise partners across the globe.
• Build and scale international team and development capabilities across China, Europe, and partner markets, establishing clear ownership, operating rhythms, decision rights, tools, templates, and governance as the business grows. 
• Serve as the functional lead for international store design management, partnering with Design, Brand Experience, architects, external consultants, regional teams, franchisees, distributors, and joint venture partners to deliver brand-right, locally executable retail environments. 
• Partner closely with Domestic Development through a dotted-line relationship to reinforce shared standards, prototype learnings, cost engineering insights, vendor knowledge, construction benchmarks, and operational watchouts. 
• Work closely with regional, design, construction, and Brand Experience teams to maintain global brand consistency while adapting development execution to local market requirements, timelines, codes, vendors, and operating norms. 
• Oversee the end-to-end international store development lifecycle, including feasibility review, site due diligence, project planning, landlord coordination, design development, permitting, construction execution, turnover, and post-opening assessment. 
• Manage multiple concurrent international store projects across markets and development phases, maintaining clear schedules, milestone tracking, risk registers, issue escalation, budget visibility, and executive-level reporting. 
• Support the hiring, onboarding, and operating model for dedicated international development resources, including the China-based Construction PM, future China-based Design Manager, and HQ-based design resources supporting Europe and partner markets. 
• Coordinate reporting and working relationships for international development resources so they remain connected to both Domestic and International Development, with final direct versus dotted-line ownership determined as leadership and market needs evolve. 
• Develop scalable international development playbooks, approval frameworks, reporting routines, construction standards, and project closeout practices that improve speed, consistency, cost control, quality, and accountability across markets. 

Qualifications

Who you are:

• 12+ years of progressive experience in retail development, store planning, design management, construction, or related functions, ideally with multi-market or international exposure. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Real Estate Development, Business, or related field or equivalent years of experience preferred. 
• Demonstrated ability to build or scale a development function, establish governance, clarify ownership, and lead teams through gradual transition of responsibilities. 
• Strong knowledge of retail construction processes, architectural documentation, scheduling, cost management, permitting, procurement, landlord coordination, and closeout. 
• Experience supporting fast-moving international markets, including regions with shorter lease cycles, compressed design and construction timelines, complex stakeholder environments, and meaningful time zone differences. 
• Ability to translate global brand standards into locally executable store environments while balancing design integrity, operational needs, cost, timing, partner capabilities, and local code requirements. 
• Experience partnering with franchisees, distributors, joint venture partners, regional operators, and internal cross-functional teams preferred. 
• Excellent executive communication, project leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create clarity in ambiguous or evolving organizational structures. 
• Highly collaborative leadership style with a proven ability to prevent silos, share learnings, and build trust across domestic, international, regional, design, construction, and brand teams. 
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically as needed to support market planning, site due diligence, project execution, team onboarding, and partner alignment. 
• Retail, apparel, fitness, hospitality, or consumer lifestyle brand experience is strongly preferred. 
• Ability to operate effectively from HQ while building dedicated regional support, particularly in China, and maintaining close partnership with Domestic Development resources. 
• Strong understanding of HQ-to-market operating models, including how to deploy centralized standards, approvals, vendor guidance, reporting, and governance while empowering local execution. 
• Proven ability to support evolving org design, including dotted-line and dual-reporting relationships across international, domestic, design, construction, and regional teams. 
• Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to build scalable processes in a high-growth international business while reinforcing a connected, one-team development culture.

The salary range for this role is $173,000 per year - $222,495 per year. This role is bonus eligible.
