Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer/Process Engineer

Job Description

The Process Engineer will support all documentation and reporting on newly introduces machinery and plant equipment to support assembly operations, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient product launches that align with established production system principles. This position serves as a critical bridge between product engineering and manufacturing, driving a seamless transition from design concepts to full-scale production while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize assembly processes using production system principles such as Standard Work, Flow, Pull, and Error Proofing.
• Define technical specifications for tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for engine assembly, and manage their procurement.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and debugging of new or modified assembly lines to achieve targeted performance metrics.
• Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables, including creation and maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow diagrams.
• Plan and execute pilot builds, coordinate cross-functional support, and manage launch readiness activities to ensure successful product introduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams in engineering, production, quality, and supply chain to resolve issues and optimize processes.
• Ensure strict compliance with established safety standards and actively promote a Zero Injury culture across the assembly operations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean projects, Kaizen events, and systematic waste elimination efforts to enhance productivity and quality.
• Maintain and improve manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions and control plans, to support consistent and repeatable operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with machinery, equipment, and associated controls within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience logging and maintaining control plans and process documentation for regulatory and internal compliance.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and data-driven process optimization.
• Exposure to engine assembly operations or similar complex mechanical assemblies.
• Formal training or certification in PFMEA and APQP methodologies is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and techniques, such as value stream mapping and waste elimination strategies.

Work Environment

This role operates within an engine assembly manufacturing environment that utilizes structured production system principles to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient operations. The engineer works closely with production lines, tooling, and machinery, participating in equipment installation, commissioning, and debugging activities on the shop floor. The position involves regular collaboration with cross-functional and global teams, requiring clear communication and coordination across engineering, quality, and operations. The work setting emphasizes a strong safety culture and a commitment to Zero Injury, with continuous improvement and Lean practices embedded in daily activities. This is a Contract position based out of Whitakers, NC.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
