Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 3x12 per week | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Neuro unit with a 1:6 patient ratio, caring for stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematoma, and other neuro diagnosis patients
• Perform IV insertion and continuous telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and medication management
• Float as required to other Med/Surg or Telemetry areas within or near the facility, which may include COVID care units
• Work every other weekend as scheduled; make up any missed weekend shifts based on unit needs
• Complete approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules (non-billable) prior to the start date using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience
• Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts prior to applying — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Demonstrated experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required; NIH / NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Candidates must be open to floating within and near the facility per unit requirements
• Local candidates are welcome; a local rate differential applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Prior experience in a neuro-focused care environment (stroke, epilepsy, neurosurgery)
• Familiarity with Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) protocols or neuro-specific assessment tools
