ORDER SELECTOR Position Summary Affiliated Foods is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals for Order Selector positions at its Amarillo distribution center. Order Selectors are an important part of the company's warehouse operation and are responsible for accurately selecting and preparing grocery products and other merchandise for delivery to Affiliated Foods customers. This is a fast-paced, physically active warehouse position. Order Selectors work throughout the distribution center filling customer orders, building pallets, checking products for accuracy, and preparing completed orders for shipment. The position requires consistent attention to accuracy, productivity, safety, and proper product handling. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Review customer orders and accurately select the products and quantities requested. - Locate merchandise throughout assigned warehouse areas and prepare products for shipment. - Build stable, organized pallets while considering product size, weight, packaging, and safe transportation. - Verify product descriptions, quantities, and other order information to help prevent picking and shipping errors. - Label, wrap, stage, or otherwise prepare completed orders for shipment. - Safely use pallet jacks, carts, order-selection equipment, scanners, or other warehouse equipment associated with assigned duties. - Handle products carefully to minimize damage and maintain product quality. - Identify damaged, missing, misplaced, or incorrect merchandise and report discrepancies appropriately. - Maintain an orderly work area and keep aisles and workspaces clear of hazards. - Follow company procedures for warehouse safety, food handling, sanitation, and product integrity. - Work cooperatively with inventory, receiving, shipping, transportation, and other warehouse personnel to support daily distribution operations. - Assist with additional warehouse duties when needed. Work Environment This position works in an active grocery distribution center where employees may work around forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, loading areas, storage racks, and other warehouse equipment. Depending on the products being selected, work may take place in different temperature-controlled areas of the facility. The work is physically active and may involve extended periods of standing and walking, frequent bending and reaching, and repeatedly lifting, carrying, stacking, or moving cases of merchandise. Skills and Abilities Successful Order Selectors should be able to: - Work accurately while maintaining an efficient pace. - Follow written, verbal, or electronic order instructions. - Recognize product numbers, descriptions, quantities, and warehouse locations. - Organize merchandise safely and efficiently for shipment. - Work independently while contributing to a larger warehouse team. - Follow established safety and product-handling procedures. - Maintain dependable attendance and consistent work performance. - Communicate problems, shortages, damaged products, or other concerns to appropriate staff. Qualifications Previous warehouse, distribution, order-selection, stocking, shipping, receiving, or material-handling experience may be helpful. Specific experience, equipment training, physical requirements, and other qualifications will be reviewed based on the position available. Affiliated Foods may provide position-specific training for equipment, procedures, safety requirements, and warehouse operations as applicable.
