- Coach, mentor, and develop associate veterinarians and credentialed technicians; lead onboarding and skills development for new doctors
- Blend leadership with clinical practice; maintain a visible presence on the floor while delivering patient care
- Oversee medical quality and compliance through case reviews, medical record audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with practice leadership to align medical standards, client experience, and operational outcomes; analyze performance metrics and implement action plans
- Recruit, interview, and help select veterinary talent; build a robust pipeline and succession plan
- Ensure adherence to all state and federal regulations, including controlled substance oversight and standards of care
- Serve as or coordinate the Responsible Veterinarian for applicable permits, where required
- Manage medical equipment needs and inventory planning in coordination with leadership
- Promote an excellent client experience, including effective communication and timely resolution of escalated concerns Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Current Maryland veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain promptly)
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Proven competency in general practice and routine surgery
- Prior leadership experience strongly preferred; passion for coaching, feedback, and team development required
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; comfort with practice information systems
- Ability to work full-time on site, with occasional local travel between assigned locations as needed
