Integration Tester

The Integration Tester plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, accuracy, and reliability of Navy Mutual's enterprise applications and system integrations. This position is responsible for designing, executing, and continuously improving testing strategies across a complex technology environment that includes policy administration systems, customer-facing applications, Salesforce CRM platforms, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform integrations , APIs, middleware services, secure file transfers, and other interconnected business systems.

The successful candidate partners closely with business stakeholders, developers, project managers, business analysts, vendors, and subject matter experts to validate system functionality, ensure data integrity, and support successful software releases. Responsibilities include validating REST and SOAP APIs, JSON and XML payloads, enterprise file transfers (SFTP/WinSCP), and backend data synchronization across multiple integrated systems. This role requires a strong understanding of integration testing methodologies, enterprise application testing, API validation, middleware technologies, and quality assurance best practices.

The Integration Tester serves as a champion of quality by leading testing efforts across multiple enterprise initiatives while driving confidence in Navy Mutual's systems through planning, execution, reporting, automation, and continuous process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Lead testing and quality assurance efforts for Navy Mutual software applications, with a primary focus on the Policy Administration System and its integrations with Salesforce CRM, MuleSoft middleware, payment platforms, customer-facing applications, and other enterprise systems.
• Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, regression suites, and test scripts aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Perform and coordinate System Testing, Integration Testing, End-to-End Testing, Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Verify software releases meet functional, technical, integration, and business requirements before deployment.
• Support production validation activities and provide Go/No-Go recommendations during software releases.

Enterprise Integration Testing

• Validate enterprise data flows and business processes across interconnected applications.
• Test REST and SOAP APIs using Postman , validating requests, responses, authentication, business rules, status codes, and error handling.
• Test MuleSoft integrations using Anypoint Platform , validating API orchestration, routing, transformations, field mappings, middleware processing, and system integrations.
• Validate JSON and XML payloads , ensuring proper formatting, required fields, nested objects, arrays, data types, and response accuracy.
• Validate backend data by comparing source and target systems to ensure data integrity, completeness, consistency, and accurate processing.
• Test secure file transfers using WinSCP (SFTP) , validating inbound and outbound integration files, scheduled batch jobs, CSV, TXT, XML, and JSON file processing.
• Troubleshoot integration issues using API responses, MuleSoft logs, payload comparisons, correlation IDs, application logs, and backend validation.
• Ensure accurate synchronization of data across Salesforce, Policy Administration Systems, payment gateways, customer portals, and downstream enterprise applications.

Test Automation & Release Support

• Collaborate with technical teams to develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing capabilities.
• Execute automated regression testing using Selenium WebDriver, RestAssured, Java, JUnit, and Maven .
• Participate in release planning, deployment support, release readiness reviews, and post-production validation.
• Assess testing scope, effort, dependencies, and release risks while communicating impacts to stakeholders

Defect Management & Problem Resolution

• Analyze application issues, integration failures, API defects, middleware issues, and unexpected system behavior.
• Document, track, and manage defects throughout the SDLC using Jira and Azure DevOps .
• Coordinate defect resolution with developers, vendors, business stakeholders, and integration teams.
• Validate defect fixes through functional, regression, API, and end-to-end testing before production deployment.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Business Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Operations, Accounting, Compliance, Customer Service, external vendors and Subject Matter Experts throughout project lifecycles.
• Participate in requirements gathering, design reviews, and implementation planning sessions.
• Communicate testing progress, risks, issues, and outcomes to stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.

Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate and enhance QA methodologies, testing standards, and testing documentation practices.
• Recommend process improvements that increase testing effectiveness and software quality.
• Support audits, quality reviews, and post-implementation assessments.
• Help establish and maintain best practices for enterprise testing and quality assurance.

Additional Responsibilities

• Review business and technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and testability.
• Adapt priorities and testing activities to support changing business needs and release schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, systems analysis, or enterprise application support.
• Experience testing enterprise business applications and complex system integrations.
• Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, test scripts, and testing documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the financial services, insurance, or annuity industry.
• Experience working with life insurance policy administration systems.
• Experience testing CRM platforms, customer portals, middleware solutions, and enterprise business applications.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and automated testing tools.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), release management processes, and quality assurance best practices.
• FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) and/or ALMI (Associate, Life Management Institute) designation preferred.
