About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Float Pool) | 12-Hour Nights

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Float within scope of practice across PCU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and ED Holding units; most shifts are expected to be spent in the ED Holding area
• Care for patients with diagnoses including neuro, trauma, surgical, medical, respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and orthopedic conditions
• Provide cardiac stepdown and short-stay cardiac observation care, including post-CABG/TAVR, STEMIs, pacemakers, ablations, and post-cath patients
• Perform and document hourly rounding, complete whiteboard updates, and deliver bedside shift report
• Administer and titrate IV medications per protocol; follow strict two-nurse verification when wasting controlled substances (narcotics, benzodiazepines, etc.)
• Document pain assessments before and after pain medication administration per facility timelines (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; strong PCU/Telemetry background required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Proficiency with IV medication titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, BiPAP management, ostomy care, general drains, tracheostomy, chest tubes, and lumbar drains
• Traveler Telemetry Competency required prior to independent practice

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous float pool experience strongly preferred, particularly for first-time travelers
• Experience with TR Bands preferred
• Experience with post-CABG/TAVR patient care (required for cardiac stepdown assignments)
• Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
