Pharmacy Technician III - Medications in Hand Liaison, Per Diem

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Outpatient Pharmacy Ambulatory Care Program Manager and Medication to Bedside Transitional Care Pharmacist, and according to department policies and procedures, and guidelines, the Medication to Bedside Delivery Technician (M2B) will work closely with clinical pharmacists and the outpatient pharmacy department to provide a coordinated bedside prescription medication delivery service for patients being discharged from the hospital. The M2B Technician shall strive to provide an unsurpassed patient experience by communicating to patient/providers on program specifics/details and arranging for outpatient prescription processing/filling within the outpatient pharmacy with the ultimate goal for patient’s to leave the hospital will all discharge prescriptions in-hand. The M2B Technician shall have an assigned area and/or patient population of focus thereby providing consistent visibility and a presence to the target clients and patients. The M2B Technician shall work diligently to remove barriers to ensure discharge prescriptions are provided to patients. The Technician III is responsible for providing high quality patient focused pharmacy services. Will also provide training and oversight for pharmacy Technicians I & II. Position Pharmacy Technician III Department Retail Pharmacy Schedule Part Time Essential Duties & Responsiblities Being present and available within assigned area to capture/support patient discharge prescription requests/needs. Facilitates/coordinates the process whereby prescriptions are sent into a BMC outpatient pharmacy, processed, adjudicated to third party insurance, problem resolution completed and prepared for the ultimate dispensing to the patient prior to discharge from the hospital. Acts as an ambassador for Pharmacy Services by being professional, maintaining a positive and enthusiastic disposition, exhibiting excellent AIDET skills, accommodating, and knowledgeable in all patient/provider interactions. Ensures assigned prescription processing tasks are accurate and reviewed by supervising personnel as required before dispensing to patients. Motivated to meet set targets as established by Medication Bedside Delivery Team Lead Technician. Provides feedback and/or solutions on how to improve the M2B patient/client experience/process and offer viable solutions for consideration. Ability to make sound decisions and conduct necessary follow up for problematic situations that may arise during the established process. Reports to the Medication Bedside Delivery Team Lead Technician immediately any issues or areas of concern relating to patient care or M2B process. Remains informed by reading all department communications. Performs all department required quality assurance responsibilities. Meets hospital-wide standards in the following areas: Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided. Utilizes hospital’s behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital’s mission and goals. Education Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Certifications, Licensures, & Registrations Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy. Must also have national certification (CPT) from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT) Experience Requires minimum of four years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requires excellent interpersonal skills, telephone communications skills and pharmaceutical calculation skills. Must be able perform at a high level in all aspects of outpatient pharmacy operations and must maintain competency in all areas of outpatient pharmacy. Compensation Range $26.92- $37.74 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
