The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Office of the Commissioner, is recruiting for a Paralegal 1/2 located in Anchorage! No Cover Letter Required!
This position is in the Excluded Employees Unit (EE) at a Range 14/16.
What You Will Be Doing: The Labor Relations Board Assistant is responsible for a broad variety of tasks that keep the Alaska Labor Relations Agency (ALRA) running smoothly. Daily, you will be responsible for answering phones and fielding questions about the Agency's jurisdiction and the types of cases we take, performing case intake, database entry and upkeep, maintaining the administrative aspects of the Agency including purchasing, budget projections, tracking agency spending, maintaining the library, making travel arrangements for the board and staff, and other things that arise. Upon mastery of those skills, and when needed you will also learn to investigate and conduct representation elections and investigate unit clarifications.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: Your office is located in Anchorage at the Department of Labor & Workforce Development (DOLWD) building on Eagle Street, with ample parking and several restaurants nearby. You will enjoy a 37.5 hour workweek.

PI01B1 – Paralegal 1: Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

PI01B2 – Paralegal 2: Successful completion of training under a formally established Paralegal 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska; OR Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
- Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
- Administrative Law: Knowledge of State and federal administrative laws, including procedures, regulations, guidelines, and precedents related to case preparation and settlements.

If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after successfully completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
