Position: Store Lead
Location: MilkShake Factory Scottsdale, Seville
Reports To: Owner
Pay Range: $18.00–$27.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Store Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the MilkShake Factory Scottsdale location. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage employees, create and maintain staff schedules, monitor inventory, order products and supplies, deliver excellent customer service, and maintain the store’s operational standards.

The Store Lead must be comfortable working independently and, when needed, running the store alone while ensuring a positive guest experience and consistent product quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Operations & Standards

• Oversee daily store operations to ensure the location runs efficiently.
• Ensure all milkshakes, ice cream, and other products meet MilkShake Factory quality and presentation standards.
• Open and close the store according to established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report repair needs.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and brand standards.

2. Employee Management & Scheduling

• Manage, train, and develop store employees.
• Create and maintain employee schedules based on projected sales and business needs.
• Ensure adequate staffing during peak and slower periods.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.
• Provide feedback, coaching, and accountability when needed.
• Assist with hiring and onboarding as directed by ownership.
• Address employee concerns and communicate significant issues to the owner.
• Ensure employees follow company policies and customer service expectations.

3. Inventory & Product Ordering

• Monitor inventory levels for ice cream, chocolate, ingredients, cups, lids, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and other operating materials.
• Place product and supply orders in a timely manner.
• Prevent unnecessary waste, overordering, and stockouts.
• Rotate inventory properly and follow food storage and thawing procedures.
• Monitor product quality, expiration dates, and storage conditions.
• Receive deliveries and verify that products and quantities are correct.
• Communicate inventory issues, vendor concerns, and purchasing needs to ownership.

4. Guest Experience & Sales

• Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
• Resolve customer complaints appropriately and escalate significant issues to ownership.
• Ensure the team provides consistent service and product quality.
• Maintain an attractive storefront and welcoming guest environment.
• Support local promotions, catering opportunities, and marketing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales, repeat visits, and customer satisfaction.

5. Labor, Cash Handling & Communication

• Monitor labor hours and staffing levels to support store performance.
• Follow cash-handling, register, and deposit procedures.
• Review daily sales and communicate operational concerns to ownership.
• Help control food costs, labor costs, waste, and other operating expenses.
• Communicate staffing, maintenance, customer, and inventory issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required operational tasks.

6. Food Safety, Cleanliness & Security

• Ensure compliance with applicable food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain proper product temperatures, storage, labeling, and rotation.
• Ensure employees follow handwashing, cleaning, and food-handling procedures.
• Maintain cleaning schedules and verify that assigned tasks are completed.
• Follow opening, closing, and security procedures.
• Report accidents, injuries, equipment failures, and safety concerns promptly.

Working Independently

The Store Lead must be capable of independently managing store operations when ownership is not present. This includes making appropriate operational decisions, assisting guests, preparing products, managing inventory, handling routine issues, and maintaining store standards.

The Store Lead may be expected to work alone during appropriate operating periods when business volume, safety requirements, and company procedures permit.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, retail, hospitality, or a supervisory role preferred.
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage employees and hold team members accountable.
• Ability to create schedules and manage staffing needs.
• Ability to monitor inventory and place accurate product orders.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of sales, labor costs, and inventory control.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Ability to learn and follow MilkShake Factory operating procedures.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive food preparation and cleaning tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry products and supplies as required for store operations.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
• Willingness to assist with store operations during busy periods, staffing shortages, and other operational needs.
