GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job is an integral part of the care delivery system working together to provide a healing environment, by placing our customers first. The incumbent provides specialty and critical care healthcare services in physician office(s) and non- acute based settings with a focus on chronic health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice. Specialty certification, advanced procedures with appropriate privileging, weekend and on-call coverage on a rotational basis, as required. E-consults and telehealth could be included in the care provided. Will be seeing hepatology patients in clinic Monday-Friday Hospital rounding as needed Weekends as needed

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides appropriate patient care to include recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plan, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, discharge planning and providing accurate medical record documentation for patients in physician office(s) and non- acute based settings (20%) Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies appropriate for the patient's condition to determine and implement treatment plans. (10%) Makes medical diagnoses and institute appropriate therapy within the applicable scope and standards of practice. (10%) Institutes emergency measures, treatment, or appropriate stabilization in acute patient situations such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, or shock. (10%) Ensures appropriate understanding and timely documentation in the EMR to support accurate medical coding and billing, and record/report pertinent information to the attending physician of record. (10%) Educates patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, medication and treatment instructions, and recommend community resources as needed. (10%) Communicates effectively with the attending physician regarding the plan of care and involve them in clinical decision-making for any issues outside the Physician Assistant's knowledge base or scope of practice. (10%) Maintains mandatory professional continuing education, actively participate in patient safety, quality improvement, and patient engagement initiatives, and maintain professional practice consistent with organizational and advanced practice mission statements and specialty-specific privileges. (10%) Specialty specific procedures and expectations as stated with privileging and job agreement. (10%)

Q UALIFICATIONS:

Required Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies Current PA Physician Assistant License PA-C or board eligible. Substitutions Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required MSN from the practicing State Board of Nursing Approved Master's Program National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), National Certification Corporation (NCC), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state Within 60 days of hire Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure Within 60 days of hire CPR - American Heart Association ACLS certification Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Preferred Experience in Emergency or Critical Care setting Additional Employment Requirements: Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure within 60 days of hire Ongoing successful recertification (NCCPA) as a PA-C within 90 days of hire CPR - American Heart Association Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Disclaimer: The job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential duties and responsibilities of work performed by employees within this job title.
