People & Culture Coordinator

Overview Calyx Containers is a packaging innovation company serving the cannabis industry, based in Salt Lake City. We design, manufacture, and source compliant packaging through a hybrid model that combines our domestic digital manufacturing facility with an international partner network. This role reports to the President and is full-time, on-site in Salt Lake City. Compensation is competitive and discussed in the first conversation. What You Own (Responsibilities) Culture and team events: plan and run events, rituals, celebrations, and recognition programs within budget and with creativity. Employer brand: strengthen Calyx as a magnet for talent through careers-page content, LinkedIn presence, milestone stories, and a strong candidate experience. The office: manage space, supplies, vendors, and ongoing buildout to impress candidates and energize the team. Recruiting coordination: manage job postings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, keep candidates engaged, and provide respectful, timely communication. Onboarding: ensure a strong first week with prepared equipment, documented plans, and clear standards from day one. AI-productivity champion: organize trainings, share wins, and highlight AI-enabled growth opportunities across the company. People operations: maintain employee records, HRIS data, org chart accuracy; support benefits enrollment and day-to-day inquiries. Performance cadence: coordinate reviews and check-ins to avoid missing conversations or paperwork. Offboarding logistics: handle exits with respect, including equipment, access, exit interviews, and clean records. Your First 90 Days Day 30: know every employee by name, keep the office running smoothly, and deliver a team event that resonates. Day 60: rebuild onboarding, organize hiring pipelines, and update the careers page to reflect the company. Day 90: set the culture calendar for two quarters, launch the first AI-productivity spotlight, and have candidates mention your reputation. Who You Are Energy source: you bring energy and organization that elevates what people touch. Natural host and planner: you have memorable events or programs and excel at details. AI-native: you use AI tools daily and help others adopt them. Discreet and trustworthy: you handle sensitive information with confidentiality and process. Promoter: you enjoy telling a company’s story externally and mirroring its internal culture. Credible with all teams: you connect well across operators, designers, sales, and engineers. Growth-minded: you aim to grow the People function quickly through the role. Requirements 1–3 years in people operations, recruiting coordination, office management, events, hospitality, or similar roles requiring strong organization and people skills. Fluency with AI tools or a portfolio of AI-enabled work (written, built, or organized). Strong writing skills for job posts, announcements, and employer-brand content. Experience with Gusto or HRIS is a plus; experience planning events on a budget is valued. A degree is not required; judgment, energy, and follow-through are important. How This Role Is Scoped The role acts as the People, Culture, and Workplace champion. Payroll is managed by the finance team. Compensation decisions, org design, and sensitive employee-relations topics are owned by the President with on-call HR expertise. This position is designed to grow into full ownership of the People function as you mature in the role.
