Quick summary about the role: The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is a seasonal position starting in September and running through the end of the Osceola Magic season. The coach will lead the physical and mental preparation of the basketball team, design and implement individualized training programs, and collaborate with medical staff to manage injury rehabilitation and player health. What the role will do: Direct and work with the Head Athletic Trainer, coaches, and front‑office staff on player improvement and planning. Implement individualized physical preparation programs while considering positional demands, organizational goals, and physical attributes. Lead strength and conditioning workouts during the season and provide proper instruction and demonstration of all training techniques. Conduct ongoing evaluation and assessment of each player to establish training goals in strength, power, flexibility, movement efficiency, speed, quickness, and overall conditioning. Communicate, educate, and explain programming rationale to players and staff. Provide group updates and reports on all players as required by the General Manager. Utilize sports technology and athlete monitoring tools, and collaborate with medical staff on injury‑limiting strategies. Lead rehabilitation of injuries and oversee physical maintenance during acute and long‑term injuries, including return‑to‑training and return‑to‑play programming. Oversee activation and warm‑up sessions during practice, shoot‑arounds, and games. Support recovery plans for players not receiving consistent playing time, promote healthy eating habits, and aid in weight‑management programs. Order or provide daily food, workout drinks, and shakes for pre/post practice and games. Travel with the team during the regular season and playoffs. Maintain and organize the Magic gym space and equipment. Perform additional duties as assigned. What the role needs to have: Four‑year degree in sports science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of four years of strength and conditioning experience. NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. Ability to attend all games throughout the season. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and to be on‑call as necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines, work well under pressure, and demonstrate strong organization and time‑management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on business writing. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks or projects independently, without supervision. Ability to work collaboratively with others, building strong interpersonal relationships and demonstrating effective teamwork and synergy with colleagues. Strong judgment and decision‑making skills. Physical requirements: Active, on‑feet, capable of guiding warm‑ups and participating in strength and conditioning sessions. Capability to lift more than 70 pounds.
