PAID IN-HOME ACADEMIC COACH NEEDED
Stoneybrook East Orlando, FL 32828 | $20–$30 per hour
Our family is looking for a dependable, organized, and encouraging academic coach to support our children four days per week.
Two students are high-school freshmen participating in a Faith Christian Academy/FLVS hybrid program, and in is in 6th grade participating in Faith Christian Academy/FLVS hybrid program.
This is more than occasional tutoring. We need someone who can help the students stay organized, understand difficult concepts, remain focused, meet deadlines, and prepare for quizzes and assessments.
SCHEDULE — 16 GUARANTEED HOURS PER WEEK:
• Monday: 3 daytime hours
• Tuesday: 5 daytime hours
• Thursday: 5 daytime hours
• Friday: 3 daytime hours
• Wednesday: No scheduled hours
• Ongoing position for the school year
• Start as soon as possible
• Two-week paid trial period
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise and support FLVS and other school assignments
• Review grades, weekly assignments, overdue work, and upcoming deadlines
• Assist with Algebra, Biology, English, and History
• Help students prepare for quizzes and assessments
• Attend or supervise online live lessons when appropriate
• Encourage organization, good study habits, and independence
• Verify that assignments are completed and properly submitted
• Provide a brief weekly progress report for each child
• Communicate promptly regarding missing work or academic concerns
• Maintain accountability without completing assignments for the students
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Education, mathematics, science, English, psychology, or related college major
• Graduate student, certified or former teacher, substitute teacher, or experienced tutor
• Experience working with middle- or high-school students
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Familiarity with FLVS, Canvas, or similar online-learning platforms preferred
• Patient, reliable, encouraging, and comfortable holding students accountable
• Comfortable assisting three siblings with different assignments
• Reliable transportation to Orlando 32828
• Able to commit consistently to the four-day schedule
Compensation is $20–$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. References will be required.
Organization, reliability, and the ability to maintain accountability are more important than being an expert in every subject.
