Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist (RT) specializing in Pediatrics (RT PEDS) position is located in Princeton, West Virginia. This inpatient role involves providing respiratory therapy services primarily to adult patients, with some experience required in pediatric care. Candidates are expected to bring their license on the first day and must meet the specified qualifications. The position offers a comprehensive orientation and shadowing period, and candidates should be prepared for night shifts.

Job Details:

• Address: Princeton, West Virginia
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, with weekend work every other week. Holiday work is required if on the scheduled day.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and STABLE Certification. Education requirements include licensure as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC. At least 2 years of experience in emergency room (ER), intensive care unit (ICU), and inpatient adult respiratory therapy is required.
• Minimum Experience: 0 years, with preferred 2 years of ER and ICU experience.
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Additional Information: The facility typically staffs 7 RTs during the day and 5 RTs at night, managing up to 40-70 treatments per therapist. The roles involve working in adult inpatient units and occasionally assisting with pediatric and neonatal care, including airway management and vent management. No critical care transporting outside the facility is required. The department has a variety of physician specialists, including pulmonologists and hospitalists available 24/7. Orientation includes general training, classroom modules, and a three-day shadowing period with a preceptor. Travel assignments include a second interview and skills assessment on site to tailor the responsibilities accordingly. Shift scheduling is managed four weeks in advance. The facility is open to travelers working only weekends. No call or standby is required, and floating is limited within the facility. Dress code requires professional scrubs and a neat appearance. Equipment used includes Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators, Hamilton C1, Avea, Bipap v60, and Vapotherm for high-flow therapy.
