Risk Manager

Overview Cajun Industries is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead and strengthen the company's risk management program across its heavy civil, industrial, mechanical, fabrication, and marine construction operations. This position will play a critical role in protecting Cajun's employees, projects, equipment, assets, and financial interests. The Risk Manager will work closely with operations, finance, legal, and insurance partners. Cajun Industries participates in a group captive insurance program for workers' compensation, auto liability, and general liability. The Risk Manager will serve as a key internal leader in managing Cajun's participation in the captive, including loss performance, claims oversight, data analysis, safety collaboration, and communication with captive and insurance partners. The Risk Manager should be comfortable working with the specialized insurance considerations that can arise from Cajun's marine operations. Depending on the project and exposure, this may include marine general liability, protection and indemnity, hull and machinery, builders risk, pollution liability, equipment coverage, and other project-specific or marine-related insurance requirements. This is a hands-on role for a risk professional who understands the realities of heavy construction, industrial operations and marine construction. Responsibilities *The following are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for this position. Develop, implement, and continuously improve Cajun's enterprise risk management program. Identify and evaluate operational, project, contractual, financial, environmental, equipment, and other business risks. Partner with operational leaders and project teams to identify exposures early and develop practical mitigation strategies. Serve as Cajun's primary internal resource for its group captive workers' compensation and general liability program. Prepare for and participate in captive meetings, stewardship reviews, underwriting discussions, and other captive-related activities. Ensure accurate and timely submission of underwriting, exposure, payroll, claims, and other information required by the captive. Review and manage exposures involving marine general liability, protection and indemnity (P&I), hull and machinery, builder's risk, pollution liability, equipment coverage, and other specialized marine insurance. Partner with project management, marine operations, and contract teams to identify and appropriately allocate marine-related risks. Maintain strong working relationships with Cajun's insurance and brokerage partners to ensure appropriate coverage and risk mitigation strategies are in place. Oversee workers' compensation and general liability claims from initial reporting through resolution. Partner with claims administrators, third-party administrators, attorneys, adjusters, medical providers, and internal stakeholders. Review insurance requirements associated with contracts, projects, customers, subcontractors, and vendors. Work with legal and project teams to evaluate indemnification provisions, additional insured requirements, waivers of subrogation, limitations of liability, and other contractual risk-transfer provisions. Coordinate project-specific insurance requirements, including builder's risk and other specialty coverages as appropriate. Monitor insurance renewals, coverage requirements, certificates, and other insurance documentation. Lead annual insurance renewal strategy, including coverage analysis, negotiations, and recommendations. Present renewal options and recommendations to executive management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance, claims, or a related discipline. Significant experience with construction, industrial, energy, manufacturing, or marine operations strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing workers' compensation and general liability programs. Experience with a group captive insurance program is highly preferred. Strong understanding of construction contracts, insurance requirements, indemnification, and risk transfer. Experience managing complex claims and working with third-party administrators, carriers, brokers, and legal counsel. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret loss runs, claims data, reserves, and financial information. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively with both senior leadership and field operations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
