About the Position

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: L&D Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification Must-Have: At least 2 years of labor experience Description: The unit has 24 beds and a total of 71 staff members. Staff consists of day shift labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, secretaries, leadership, and educators. Night shift includes labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, and secretaries. Patient ratios for labor are 1:1 most of the time. Post-partum ratios are 5-6:1. Nursery patient ratios are also 5-6:1. Equipment includes GE fetal monitors and EMR systems. Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, antepartum care, and newborn and post-partum care. Every third weekend is required with 12 hours of call in a 4-week schedule. Navy blue scrubs are to be worn, and nurses have distinct badges for infant security.
