Direct Care Staff

Job PurposeAssist individuals with brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other neurological disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating, dignified life by serving as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of individuals' rights and benefits.Essential FunctionsProvide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living, which includes, but is not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills for a 21 year old male. Chris is a 21-year-old young man with a great sense of humor who loves to be around other people. He loves to be active and do things with his hands- like Play-Doh, art projects, mega blocks, and navigating YouTube to watch videos set to music- especially the Wiggles. He also loves anything to do with big machines like work trucks, tractors, and trains. He likes going out in the community. He does require extensive physical assistance for activities of daily living.LocationMarcy, NYSchedulePT (20-24.9) Monday-Friday (occasional weekends and evenings - based on activities)Pay Rate$22/hr-$24/hrEducation and ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent; one-year experience in the human service field preferred.QualificationsMaintain a valid New York State driver's license; a vehicle is required to perform the job. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be trained in all required trainings within 90 days of being hired and maintain current certifications with all required trainings. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills. Must be 18 years or older.
