The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) is hiring a Kennel Attendant to help care for birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other exotic pets in our 24-hour emergency and primary care hospital near Seattle, WA. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, and no previous veterinary experience is required—we will train the right candidate.

CBEAM is an exotic animal veterinary hospital providing scheduled appointments 7 days a week and the only exotic-exclusive hospital in the area offering 24-hour emergency care . Our veterinary team provides specialized wellness, emergency, and critical care for birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other non-traditional pets.

In your day-to-day you will
Provide food and water according to each patient's individual diet and care instructions.
Monitor patients throughout the day and communicate changes in behavior, appetite, activity, or overall condition to the veterinary team.
Clean and sanitize incubators, cages, kennels, treatment areas, and other patient-care surfaces.
Provide appropriate husbandry and maintain a comfortable, safe environment for hospitalized animals.
Assist with patient restraint when needed for diagnostics and treatments, following veterinary team direction.
Maintain accurate records documenting patient care, feeding, cleaning, and observed behaviors.
Restock exam rooms and treatment areas with hospital supplies.
Complete laundry, trash collection, sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning duties necessary to maintain a safe hospital environment.
Help maintain an organized and sanitary hospital while supporting the veterinary team with daily patient-care needs.
Work with a wide variety of species, including birds, reptiles, small mammals, and occasionally insects , with appropriate training and supervision.
What we're looking for
High school diploma or equivalent
No veterinary experience required—we provide on-the-job training
Genuine interest in working with animals and willingness to learn about exotic species
Ability to safely handle and care for a variety of animal species
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Animal handling experience preferred but not required
Previous experience working in a team environment preferred
Comfortable working around animal hair, dander, feces, urine, odors, and allergens such as hay
Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals while following required PPE and safety procedures
Schedule
Full-time: 36–40 hours per week
Part-time: minimum 20 hours per week
Sunday–Saturday availability required
Schedule will be discussed during the interview process
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, move, and transport up to 40 pounds
Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate stairs
Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
Ability to work safely in an environment with animal allergens, cleaning chemicals, and odors
