Senior Director CMO Division Medical Director Behavioral Health

Banner Behavioral Health seeks a Chief Medical Officer / Division Medical Director to provide overall medical and clinical leadership across multiple service lines. This dual-responsibility role includes supervision of clinical, customer, learning, and financial performance of providers across outpatient, inpatient and community settings. Position Summary The role provides overall leadership for medical management, clinical care integration, and system-wide patient safety, while overseeing clinical, customer, learning, and financial performance of providers across multiple service lines. The leader guides development and implementation of medical policies, practices, and clinical programs, ensuring clinical quality and implementing system clinical quality initiatives in partnership with facility leadership. Core Functions Oversees physician engagement, productivity, staffing, recruitment, monitors physicians for burnout, and provides career development, mentorship, performance feedback, and improvement plans. Promotes quality improvement concepts, establishes relationships with physicians and stakeholders, participates in review of qualifications, credentials, performance, and professional competence. Provides clinical oversight and reviews quality data; establishes, monitors, and improves aggregate clinical outcomes through care-management activities that improve patient safety, reduce variation, and implement evidence-based standards. Strategizes and drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and safety while promoting a patient-centered healing environment. Partners with operational partners to achieve clinical and operational excellence; develops cross-disciplinary integration to provide a seamless patient experience and understands market factors that inform strategy and growth opportunities. Serves as integral member of executive leadership team, building relationships with corporate, hospital, and medical staff leaders; provides advisory capacity for strategic development and implementation of clinical and operational services. Promotes financial stewardship and clinical excellence by allocating resources for improvement activities and establishing performance measures to ensure cost-effective delivery. Champions service-excellence philosophies and behaves as a service-oriented culture focused on employee/provider engagement, quality, patient safety, fiscal responsibility, and overall experience. Ensures compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws and coordinates services across facilities, medical staff, leadership, and payor organizations. Minimum Qualifications Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Osteopathy with Board Certification. Five years of clinical practice and three years of medical staff leadership experience. Current, unrestricted State medical license and eligibility for medical staff privileges. Proven experience as a physician leader in a large multi-specialty group practice, physician practice management organization, hospital or health plan. Track record of leading physician groups, performance management, and cultural change. Experience developing measurable improvements in quality of clinical care and patient satisfaction. Experience implementing continuous improvement culture and patient-centered healing culture. Knowledge of national trends in hospital technology, quality, and patient safety. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills; ability to manage conflicting priorities and influence diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience within a multi-unit hospital system. Experience with hospital medical staff, managed care organizations, and continuous quality improvement activities. Additional education or experience as desired.
