Job Description
Job Title: Registered Radiologic Technologist
Profession: Tech

Experience: Previous radiologic technology experience in a procedural setting preferred
License: IEMA Radiography License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Radiography (R)(ARRT)


Must-Have:
- Patient care experience
- Ability to manage hypersensitivity reactions


Description:
The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver responsible for patient care in a designated timeframe.
This role provides care specifically in the heart and vascular institute.
The patient population consists of individuals requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.
The technologist will assist the physician in all procedures, enhancing the service provided to patients and the team.
Key responsibilities include administering contrast material as requested by physicians through an IV line or venipuncture.
The technologist must recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
All functions and duties will be performed under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
Responsibilities also include inventory and supplies management.
Technologists must verify the correct patient identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
They will compile pertinent clinical information from labs and pathology.
Assisting in the instruction of new staff as necessary is required.
Documentation must be accurate and complete.
Explaining procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality is essential.
The technologist will accurately inform the procedural nurse of intra-procedural medication doses and manage sponge/sharp counts.
On-call duties or variable shifts may be required based on department needs.
Department-specific duties involve administering and withholding contrast and treatment as appropriate, checking for patient allergies, and performing peripheral vascular work.
Other responsibilities include venous central lines, tube changes, embolization work, and venous thrombectomy.
Experience with interventional neurology is preferred.
The role may involve dialysis work, tube access, and changes for various medical devices.
Maintaining a sterile field during procedures and managing supplies for procedures is necessary.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion and caring when interacting with others.
Candidates must possess the capacity to learn and retain information concerning patient care and procedures.
Effective communication and the ability to follow directions while completing detailed work accurately are essential.
Manual dexterity to handle small supplies is required.
