Position: Engineering Drafter - Specialty Construction
Location: Deer Park, NY Company/Industry: Well-established architectural fabrication/specialty construction firm Schedule: On-site, Mon-Fri Salary: $40-50 per hour, depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate Type: Direct Hire with benefits Responsibilities- Produce detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings
- Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and field measurements
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and installers
- Prepare cut tickets, material take?offs, and technical documentation
- Ensure drawings meet project requirements, tolerances, and specialty material standards
- Revise drawings based on RFIs, site conditions, and client changes
- Support engineering problem?solving related to fit, structure, and constructability
- Maintain drawing accuracy and version control throughout the project lifecycle
- Experience drafting for specialty construction required: stone, millwork, metal & glass, façade systems, or similar
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency (2D required; 3D a plus)
- Ability to understand engineering concepts, tolerances, and fabrication processes
- Experience preparing shop drawings for custom architectural elements
- Strong math and measurement skills
- Ability to work closely with PMs, fabricators, and field teams
- Detail?oriented with strong problem?solving abilities
