About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS BLS TNCC PALS or ENPC Must-Have Skills: Experience in ED or equivalent emergency department setting Understanding of trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions Description: Candidates may not have engaged in full-time, part-time, or PRN roles with any associated facilities within the past year. The unit consists of 243 bays and trauma bays. A fast track is available. There is a separate triage area, and occasional triage responsibilities are assigned to travelers. The ER does not have a separate holding area; ER holds are intermixed within the ER. ER nurses are responsible for managing their own ER holds. There are no separate psych or seclusion rooms. In-house security is present. The unit sees approximately 80-90 patients per day. Staff-to-patient ratios are 1:4. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and either PALS or ENPC. Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, congestive heart failure, and cardiac conditions. Experience of 2 years in an emergency department setting is preferred. Both charge nurses and house supervisors are present in the unit. Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters assist in care. The EMR system used is Paragon. Respiratory Therapy completes ABG's and breathing treatments. There is no monitor tech; RNs are required to know ECG rhythms. Support services such as X-ray or CT are located next to the emergency department. Phlebotomy or nurse draws are performed by techs or RNs. Self-scheduling options are available for day, night, and various shift lengths. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements include every other holiday. There are no call or standby requirements. Floating may be required to qualified units. Scrub color/dress code is navy. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The cancellation policy applies to shifts missed.
