Job Description The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Part‑Time Maintenance Technician II based in St. Cloud, MN. Under general supervision, the role involves performing repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, as well as on machines and equipment. Typical duties include carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical work, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Work will involve routine, periodic, and special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work needed to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. The technician will utilize hand and power tools, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment, and use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. Additionally, the role supports and provides leadership guidance to volunteers. Key Responsibilities Maintain and repair the organization’s facilities and properties, including patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, painting structures and equipment, and installing and correcting minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Document installations and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Install, operate, and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. Move and store furniture and equipment as needed. Estimate time and material costs of various projects and requisition new supplies and equipment. Plant and tend flowerbeds, prune shrubs and trees, water lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds, spray fertilizer and insecticides, rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep external walkways and staircases, and remove snow using power removal equipment or a shovel. Apply snow‑melting chemical when necessary on company roads, walkways, and outside staircases. Drive vehicle to other locations. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Pay Information The salary range for this position is $21.58 – $22.38 per hour. Salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed, and may also be influenced by specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the same role. Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a trade license may be required. Experience: Minimum three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Management Experience: Not applicable. Skills & Abilities: Prior truck or bus driving experience is desirable; a current valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Basic computer skills are required. Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work on a team. May have on‑call duties. Travel: Will drive vehicles to other locations. Physical Requirements: Regular use of hands and arms, lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs frequently, and occasional lifting of objects that weigh more than 100 lbs with assistance or use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooring or ramps, and to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents. May require climbing of ladders for top‑level selection. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
