Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience. License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: MUST be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Must have manager approval for first-time travelers. Description: RN position in the Neonatal ICU. Facility has 247 licensed beds. Services include Level 1 Pediatric Trauma and Chest Pain Center. Unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Responsibilities include managing a variety of respiratory, cardiac, neurological, GI, GU, and endocrine conditions. Common diagnoses include Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Congenital Heart Defects, and Necrotizing Enterocolitis. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. Skills required include EPIC experience, management of invasive lines, and ventilator management. Team support includes Unit Secretary, Charge Nurse, Intensivist, and in-house APPs. Equipment used includes EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, and Phillips monitors. Orientation includes departmental training and scheduling requires weekend rotation and holiday availability. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, and compassion. Professional attire guidelines include solid navy or white scrubs without logos. Practice guidelines recommend no watches, rings, or artificial nails in the nursery.
