Engineering Leader - Electrical Distribution

Responsibilities Implement and execute capacity and capability management under the guidance of the Engineering Manager. Ensure effective workflow by engaging with cross‑functional leads and customers to understand scope of projects and technical needs, assigning resources effectively. Drive process improvements to achieve financial results. Typically support local team members but may also support remote employees in other locations. Drive a high‑performing team by managing performance and development of team members. Operate effectively in the UL matrix to support and drive high‑performance culture changes, transformation efforts and people engagement. Hold team and self accountable for results; assist Engineering Manager in defining goals, performance objectives, and metrics to execute strategy. Develop and coach by providing training, career counseling, feedback and guidance to drive high performance and morale. Ensure understanding of and compliance with all established policies and requirements. Increase customer loyalty, anticipate customer needs and provide proactive solutions. Gather, share and respond to customer feedback; coach and mentor employees to do the same. Support sales by building relationships with customers, obtaining feedback on how UL can do better, identifying actions and solutions; provide technical guidance and engineering judgment to complete projects and address issues and customer complaints. Ensure quality and adherence to policies and standards; lead or participate in discussions to drive business initiatives through brainstorming. Empower and hold team accountable to find new opportunities to drive growth and financial goals (revenue, profit, enterprise value, etc.). Delegate Project Handlers to establish appropriate test programs. Guide project handlers to ensure compliance with requirements, changes in project scope or specifications, and customer notifications. Explain UL family of company’s policies, procedures, and requirements; negotiate completion dates and sample requirements; ensure an effective experience with the UL family of companies. May handle some projects and/or act as lead reviewer to support workflow and demand. Communicate and exemplify UL’s Vision and Mission. Lead, promote and embrace change through self and team. Collaborate and build trust within the organization and with customers to meet or exceed expectations. Qualifications University degree (equivalent to a Bachelors degree) in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or related field. 2-5 years of leadership experience. Lean Sigma Green Belt or Lean Leadership Training, Gage R& R experience or equivalent preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of how decisions impact business results, working with a diverse team and planning and thinking strategically. Demonstrates the ability to manage employee performance using performance expectations and goals and responding to employee relations issues. Demonstrates the ability to lead in a Lean Sigma organization. Demonstrates the ability to make the complex simple and present information in a concise, relevant and powerful manner. Demonstrates the ability to analyze and interpret analyses, data, process documents and plans. Demonstrates the ability to take calculated risks and plan for contingencies. Demonstrates the ability to listen, learn and teach. Demonstrates awareness of the challenges of working in diverse cultural environments. Demonstrates proficiency in local language and basic English. Demonstrates customer collaboration, project management and business acumen skills. Total Rewards We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $107,000 to $130,000 USD and is based on multiple factors, including job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country.
