Position Summary The Trauma Coordinator ensures safe, effective, holistic patient care with complex needs within a specialized area of clinical practice. This nurse serves across the acute care continuum and acts as a clinical resource for patients, families, staff and community providers. Time Type: Full time Department: CC018172 Trauma Center Education Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, Bachelor's Degree Nursing, Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent, or Nursing Diploma Recommended Education: Master’s Degree or Master’s Degree Nursing Work Experience Required Work Experience: Nursing – 4 years of experience Certifications Required: Registered Nurse (RN) license – Arkansas or Compact State Recommended: Certified Case Manager (CCM), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN), Certified Pediatric Nurse (RN‑BC), Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist Neonatal (CCNS‑N), Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC‑NIC), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP‑BC), Nurse Executive (NE‑BC), Nursing Professional Development (NPD‑BC), Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) Responsibilities Remain current in research related to trauma patient populations and systems, interpret and apply findings, and participate in ongoing research. Provide clinical expertise and collaborate with physicians, nurses, pre‑hospital providers, specialty services, ancillary services, administration and agencies within the trauma service area to facilitate optimal care of trauma patients. Predict, monitor and evaluate patient outcomes for continuity in intervention over time and through systems. Facilitate effective implementation of the Trauma Performance Improvement Patient Safety (TPIPS) and Trauma Peer Review process. Provide feedback to and request data from EMS and referring hospitals regarding patient care and trauma system issues. Check daily census to identify potential trauma patients and notify appropriate departments such as injury prevention. Organize and enter injury data into the trauma registry database (NTRACS) regarding the patient’s injury event, severity, care and outcome. Abstract appropriate data elements for all trauma patients, reviewing both concurrently and retrospectively to ensure all necessary elements are captured as required by the Arkansas Department of Health and the National Trauma Data Set. Establish the injury severity score using AIS methodology. Perform ongoing quality assurance and data validation assessments; generate reports to provide data and statistical information to burn, trauma and injury prevention groups.
