Materials Engineer

Cmf Engineer 2 - PolymersWe are seeking a full-time CMF Engineer 2 - Polymers at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering CMF solutions for products covering all market segments.Essential FunctionsDeliver CMF solutions from initial requirements to product launchMaintain industry knowledge of advances in material innovation and technologyDevelop CMF verification processes and develop/maintain a CMF databaseDefine, execute, and communicate results of CMF explorationsDetermine root cause and deliver solutions for product quality and manufacturing issues related to CMFDrive continued education and development of materials-related knowledge throughout the organizationBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Thorough knowledge and demonstrates ability to select CMF characterization/analysis tools (ex. SEM, DSC, TGA, DMA, FTIR, SMD/EDS, XRF, XPS, TEM, AFM, etc.)Demonstrates knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to use tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNoteA curiosity for new CMF innovation, technology, process, design and future livingOpen to pushing new boundaries, work extremely well in multi-disciplinary global teams, able to speak up, anticipate technical challenges and plan aheadLooks beyond the immediate problem and generates new/innovative solutions to complex problemsBe a strong communicator, sharing technical knowledge with non-technical partners in a clear and meaningful way (also challenges and constraints)Strong project management skills to drive new technology programs to deliver verified solutions from concept to manufacturingDemonstrates proficient knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods (ex. plastic, silicone, metals, coatings, and more)Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and proficient presentation skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with othersDesired QualificationsExperience working in the consumer electronics industryPrevious experience or knowledge of organic materials including, but not limited to, rigid plastics, silicones and rubbers, organic coatings, films or similarOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
