Learn more about CPC's culture and Great Place to Work Certification by clicking on the link below: Working at Center for Primary Care | Great Place To Work® Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry Technologist (DEXA Tech) Reporting to the Manager of Imaging, TheDual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry Technologist (DEXA Tech)is responsible for conducting, documenting, and interpreting DEXA exams outcomes on patients for providers.
Key Responsibilities: Essential Functions
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required: RT license required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical practice, hospital, or clinic setting. DEXA/Bone densitometry experience and certification preferred. Prior experience with Radiology or Orthopedic preferred.
• Knowledge of general health care practices, office workflows, and medical terminology. • Ability to identify emergent medical situations. • Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced, time-sensitive work environment. • Strong working medical knowledge of the clinical needs and disease processes for the chronically ill population. • Excellent telephone, oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work autonomously and be directly accountable for assignments. • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office and EMR experience. • Capable of managing several tasks simultaneously. Job Type: PRN Schedule: Monday-Friday Compensation: Market competitive base pay, commensurate with education and experience.
Key Responsibilities: Essential Functions
- Performs Dexa Scan to assist on the diagnosis of osteoporosis according to ARS guidelines. Must show competency in patient positioning, scan analysis, artifact detection, and definition of T-Scores, Z-Scores and WHO criteria.
- Maintains patient information and test files/data base.
- Explains scan procedures to patients.
- Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner
- Observes all organizational and diagnostic policies and procedures.
- Meets productivity norms established by the imaging department.
- Maintains equipment, supplies and work area in accordance with department guidelines.
- Interviews patient to confirm/obtain history, assesses patient history versus ordered scan.
- Prints out data reports and provides bone densitometry scan/patient record to authorized recipient.
- Enters clinical date into computerized database.
- Complies with all continuing education requirements.
- Knows and observes policies set by OSHA.
- Adheres to infection control guidelines.
- Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others. Exhibits characteristics consistent with CPC values for quality, respect, teamwork, and pride.
- Always maintain patient confidentiality. Adheres to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his/her level of understanding.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
