Customer Service Representative – Utility Billing & Service

Pay: $23–$24 per hour

Abel Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to support a client’s utility customer service team. In this role, you’ll help customers understand their bills, manage service requests, resolve account questions, and make sure information reaches the right team for follow-up.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people and is comfortable balancing phone calls with accurate account and administrative work.

What You’ll Do

• Respond to customer calls and emails about billing, payments, and service.
• Research billing questions using meter readings, account records, and other information; prepare corrections when needed.
• Accept payments and post them to the correct accounts.
• Set up new accounts and process service starts, stops, transfers, and final bills.
• Enter service work orders and route complaints or requests to the appropriate department.
• Prepare routine customer correspondence, update records, and maintain organized files.
• Create and distribute reports to support follow-up and track customer service activity.
• Communicate with field service teams to help resolve customer account and service issues.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of related customer service or office experience.
• Strong phone skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing.
• Comfort working with numbers, reviewing account details, and catching discrepancies.
• Accurate typing skills of approximately 50 words per minute.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, including spreadsheets.
• Ability to stay organized, protect confidential information, and meet accuracy and productivity expectations while handling interruptions.

Experience with utility billing, customer accounts, payment processing, or service scheduling is helpful.

Schedule: M - F 8am - 4:30pm. This is primarily an office-based role.
