Assistant Coach

Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Assistant Coach role located in the Greater Houston area at Woodville High School. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, implementing game strategies, and fostering skill development for student‑athletes. Daily responsibilities include supervising workouts, teaching fundamentals, monitoring player safety, and reinforcing sportsmanship and academic accountability. The role involves reviewing game footage, assisting with equipment management, maintaining clear communication with students, families and staff, and helping organize travel, competitions and team events. The Assistant Coach is also expected to uphold school and district policies, contribute to a positive team culture, and serve as a mentor and role model for students. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of the sport’s rules, techniques and strategies, with the ability to teach fundamentals to students at various skill levels. Experience working with adolescents in educational, athletic or youth program settings, with a commitment to student well‑being and inclusion. Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with student‑athletes, families, coaches, teachers and administrators. Ability to organize practices, manage time and maintain accurate records related to team activities, eligibility and equipment. Commitment to player safety, including adherence to conditioning guidelines, injury‑prevention practices and school safety procedures. High level of professionalism, integrity and reliability, with the ability to model respectful behavior and positive sportsmanship. Availability to work beyond regular school hours, including evenings and weekends, for practices, games and related events. Preferred: Prior coaching experience at the high school or youth level and relevant coaching certifications; a bachelor’s degree in education, sports management or a related field is beneficial. #J-18808-Ljbffr Woodville High School
