The Clinician for La Jornada works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and youth for the assigned program. This position works closely with children, youth, foster parents, and community partners, providing assessments, counseling, advocacy, mental health stabilization and support toward the goal of unification with a sponsor family and living safely and successfully in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies. Collaborate with the cross-functional service team to provide trauma-informed mental health related services including conducting required assessments, referrals to mental health providers and assessments to identify human trafficking concerns. Provide child-facing services on-site. Maintain an active clinical caseload pursuant to the assigned program ratio and consistently achieve established service delivery thresholds. Conduct mental health assessments; and provide ongoing individual and group counseling services, as well as provide crisis intervention if needed. Facilitate family sessions as needed. Perform visits at foster caregiver’s homes within pre-established days from the child’s admission as needed. Continually monitor the mental well-being of clients and arrange for appropriate services as needed, including arranging for and facilitating external specialized services with community mental health providers. Complete Risk, UC Assessments, Human Trafficking, RST assessment, safety plans, post 18 ages out plans, and other assessments as required by the assigned program within expected timeframes. Provide consultation and documentation regarding clients’ functioning, mental health status, and treatment needs. Participate in staffing with the cross-functional team and stakeholders. Provide orientation to children in care. When necessary, travel to provide community-based services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements. Complete all required documentation and training in a timely manner. Consistently achieve established productivity thresholds. Coordinate and monitor services for the youth and family in the community, including but not limited to, medical, educational, psychological, and social services. Screen for human trafficking concerns and provide crisis intervention services. Perform other duties as requested. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling, or other behavioral discipline in which clinical experience is a program requirement. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure. (Non-licensed staff must be actively working towards licensure while employed and attain licensure within 3 years of employment date). Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required to serve the children and families. Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs. A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours with a possibility of being on call on nights/weekends, in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and people served. Must be able to organize, navigate, and physically escort youth to various travel destinations possibly including airlines, trains, and buses. Travel may include out-of-state trips up to 25%-30% to unify youth with families. Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability coverage. 21 years of age, a valid state driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, and a good driving record. OTHER SKILLS Follow ORR, CDC, and State Covid 19 related protocols. Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal/external stakeholders. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity. Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying. Ability to travel frequently and drive a vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands.
