Under the direction of Artistic Director Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 performances annually to sold-out audiences in the 2,080-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House.

The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, from toddlers to seniors. Colorado Ballet's Education and Community Engagement programming engages with students, teachers, families, people with disabilities, and lifelong learners, making more than 70,000 contacts in 300 schools and organizations annually.

Position Overview

The Videographer and Photographer is responsible for shooting content to create most of Colorado Ballet's creative assets for use in marketing, brand awareness, audience engagement, and fundraising initiatives. This position will shoot, edit, and create finished videos and photos for social media, website, digital advertising campaigns, television broadcast, e-mails, donor communications, and other channels to promote Colorado Ballet performances, outreach activities, special events, and the Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy's programs, classes, performances, and events. The position also supports the organization's Education and Community Engagement programs and Advancement team through the creation of visual assets that drive participation, awareness, and philanthropic support.

The Videographer and Photographer reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and works collaboratively across departments, including Marketing and Communications, Advancement, Academy, Education and Community Engagement, and Artistic and Production teams. This full-time position supports Colorado Ballet's campaigns to increase visibility for the organization with a focus on patron retention, new audience development, fundraising, ticket sales, Academy enrollment, and community engagement. The position follows a hybrid work schedule while maintaining an on-site presence as required to capture rehearsals, performances, events, meetings, and other organizational activities.

Key Duties and Functions

• In collaboration with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and the Artistic Director, conceptualize, produce, and execute Colorado Ballet's annual season video campaign and individual production campaign videos. Research repertoire, storylines, choreographic intent, and artistic themes; develop creative briefs, scripts, and storyboards; collaborate closely with artistic leadership, dancers, and production personnel; and direct all filming, editing, post-production, and final asset delivery across digital, social, broadcast, advertising, fundraising, and promotional channels.
• Capture and produce video content for rehearsals, performances, Academy programs, education and community engagement initiatives, fundraising activities, and special events; conduct interviews and create promotional, educational, documentary-style, and audience engagement content. Evening and weekend work are required as needed.
• Photograph performances, rehearsals, Academy activities, community engagement programs, donor events, and organizational initiatives; edit and deliver final images for marketing, communications, fundraising, and archival purposes. Evening and weekend work are required as needed.
• Produce photo and video assets for digital advertising campaigns, social media, website content, email marketing, patron acquisition, fundraising, and audience engagement initiatives.
• Prepare and deliver creative assets in formats optimized for print, web, email, social media, digital advertising, and broadcast platforms.
• Ensure all photo and video assets comply with requirements from the American Guild of Musical Artists and follow standard operating procedures to obtain photo and video approval from artists.
• Manage relationships with external production partners and vendors as needed.
• Serve as administrator of Colorado Ballet's digital photo and video library, ensuring proper file organization, metadata management, archival practices, and accessibility across departments.
• Manage Colorado Ballet's YouTube and Vimeo channels and partner with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a long-term YouTube content strategy.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications leadership, including the Associate Director of Brand & Graphic Design and Communications & Marketing Manager, to ensure visual content aligns with brand standards, messaging priorities, campaign objectives, and social media strategy.
• Utilize Asana and other project management tools to manage workflows, prioritize projects, track deadlines, and communicate project status with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum

• 4+ years of professional videography experience, with photography experience.
• Very proficient in shooting and editing video in Adobe Premiere Pro. The ideal candidate will have experience shooting and editing video in news, arts, and/or sports to create videos in marketing and/or documentary style.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications and contemporary video production workflows.
• Experience in shooting, storytelling, and editing video content to create finished assets for social media, marketing campaigns, and overall brand awareness purposes.
• Knowledge of current best practices for generating creative content for all digital outlets.
• Experience operating professional camera, audio, lighting, and video production equipment.
• Experience shooting and editing photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work while on tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and tend to many different projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with large teams and in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail with a talent for creating tasteful and impactful compositions, emotive story structure, and artistic excellence on screen.
• Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Portfolio submission demonstrating professional videography, photography, editing, and storytelling work is required for consideration.
• Experience working within brand standards and collaborating with marketing, communications, graphic design, and social media teams.
• Experience utilizing project management software, preferably Asana.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support performances, special events, donor activities, community programs, and production needs.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment while maintaining a consistent on-site presence as required for content capture and cross-departmental collaboration.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast, Marketing, Film/Video/Photography, or other related field.
• A passion for non-profit arts, performing arts, and/or cultural organizations.
• Understanding of YouTube content strategy, audience development, analytics, and video optimization best practices.
