Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk accurately packs, ships, and supports inventory control for parts moving through a busy manufacturing facility. This role uses common shipping carriers and basic computer systems to process orders, maintain documentation, and uphold quality standards while working closely with internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Pack and box parts securely based on sales orders using UPS, FedEx, and other designated shipping methods.
• Process shipping labels and documentation using carrier systems and basic computer applications.
• Turn completed sales orders with shipping confirmation stickers over to the Accounting department in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support inventory control by helping track, organize, and account for materials and finished goods.
• Follow established guidelines and procedures prescribed by ISO 9001 and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including handling incoming and outgoing materials as needed.
• Perform general warehouse tasks such as order selection, picking, and material handling when required.
• Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if trained and authorized to do so.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to coordinate shipments and resolve issues.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the manager to support logistics, warehousing, and customer service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.

• Basic computer skills to operate UPS and FedEx shipping systems and related equipment.
• Ability to read and understand documents, including sales orders, shipping labels, and written instructions.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with fractions and decimals.
• Detail-oriented approach to ensure accurate packaging, labeling, and documentation.
• Demonstrated dependability, including meeting work standards, attendance requirements, and punctuality.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to make thoughtful decisions and accept accountability.
• Strong personal attitude and integrity, including a positive approach to work and collaboration with co-workers.
• Ability to support and maintain high quality standards in daily work.

• Organizational skills to plan tasks in a logical sequence and identify resources needed to complete work efficiently.

• Experience with shipping and receiving in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with shipping carriers such as UPS and FedEx and their online systems.
• Background in warehouse operations including order selection, picking, and material handling.
• Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment, if previously trained and certified.
• Exposure to inventory control processes and basic logistics practices.
• Customer service mindset when handling internal requests and coordinating shipments.
• Experience with enterprise or warehouse systems such as SAP or similar platforms is beneficial.
• Comfort working within ISO 9001 or other quality management system guidelines.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that includes assembly, machining, and welding departments located throughout the building. The workday follows a consistent first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation to report punctually and work all scheduled hours and any required overtime. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, involving regular interaction with warehouse areas, shipping stations, and material handling activities. You will work with shipping equipment, carrier systems such as UPS and FedEx terminals, and may use forklifts or other material handling tools if authorized. The facility operates under ISO 9001 guidelines and emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
