Job Title: Construction Laborer Job Description

The Construction Laborer supports crews on commercial and residential projects by assisting with plastering, firestopping, fireproofing, and weather barrier installations. In this role, you prepare, mix, transport, and stage construction materials, help install firestop and fireproofing systems, and support building envelope and waterproofing work. You contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and organized job sites while working closely with supervisors and team members to complete projects efficiently and to high quality standards.

• Assist crews with plastering, firestopping, fireproofing, and weather barrier installations on commercial and residential construction projects.
• Prepare, mix, transport, and stage materials such as plaster, cement, fireproofing products, sealants, adhesives, and other construction materials.
• Support installation of firestop systems, including sealants, wraps, sleeves, and joint assemblies, following code requirements and manufacturer specifications.
• Prepare surfaces for fireproofing applications through scraping, cleaning, masking, and priming activities.
• Assist with spray-applied and board-applied fireproofing installations as directed by skilled tradespeople.
• Support installation of weather barriers, waterproofing membranes, building wrap systems, flashing, and related building envelope components.
• Load, unload, and distribute tools, equipment, and materials throughout construction sites in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Perform general labor duties such as material handling, demolition support, and site cleanup, and assist crew members with project-related tasks as needed.
• Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and other jobsite equipment safely and correctly.
• Follow project specifications, manufacturer installation requirements, and established safety procedures at all times.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn multiple construction trades.

• Experience working on commercial or residential construction sites performing general labor duties (preferred).
• Ability to safely handle, mix, transport, and stage construction materials including plaster, cement, sealants, and fireproofing products.
• Experience assisting skilled trades with installation of firestopping systems, fireproofing materials, waterproofing systems, or related construction assemblies (preferred).
• Comfort using hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and other jobsite equipment.
• Ability to follow project specifications, manufacturer installation requirements, and safety procedures accurately.
• Physical capability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and perform repetitive bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail when preparing surfaces, installing materials, and maintaining quality standards.
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn multiple construction trades.
• Comfort working at heights and on scaffolding when required.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety guidelines.

• Prior construction experience is preferred but not required for motivated candidates with a strong work ethic.
• Interest in learning specialized trades related to firestopping, fireproofing, plastering, and weatherproofing systems.
• Experience with demolition, material handling, and general labor tasks on construction sites.
• Comfort working on commercial construction projects involving building envelope, fireproofing, and life-safety systems.
• Ability to adapt to different project phases and tasks while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Punctuality and reliability in meeting scheduled work hours.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and crew members.

This role is based on commercial construction sites with both indoor and outdoor work depending on the project phase. You can expect exposure to dust, construction materials, varying weather conditions, and loud equipment in a fast-paced environment. The work is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing. You regularly use ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and other construction access equipment while working within a team-oriented environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity. Personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and work boots, is required. Typical hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodward, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
