Medical Biller

Job Description Medical Biller Eye Care Specialists is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our growing ophthalmology and optometry practice. The ideal candidate will be organized, accurate, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities: Submit accurate and timely insurance claims; Review claims for accuracy and proper coding; Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims; Investigate and resolve billing and payment discrepancies; Post insurance and patient payments; Work insurance accounts receivable and aging reports; Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed; Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as assigned; Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement; Answer patient questions and assist with billing concerns; Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality; Collaborate with providers and staff to resolve coding and documentation issues. Qualifications: Previous medical billing experience is preferred; Ophthalmology or optometry billing experience is a plus; Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance claims, denials, and appeals; Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance plans; Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills; Professional written and verbal communication skills; Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; Experience with electronic medical records and practice-management systems is preferred.
