Purpose of Position: Our Warehouse Laborers are our front-line employees and a very important part of GLS. They work diligently to sort and make sure packages are in the correct route, to ensure proper delivery timelines. They work closely as a team to make sure all the behind the scenes work is done safely and successfully, no day is the same. We are looking to expand our team with people that care about safety, quality and work at a fast pace. Essential Job Functions: Scan and/or sort packages, load and unload trucks. Unpack, scan and label small to medium sized packages and parts. Create shipping labels and documentation as required using various shipping systems including UPS, USPS and our own proprietary system. Scan and label inbound freight from a tractor-trailer to allow forklift operators to unload and stage. Assist in the manual loading of box trucks assisted by the use of pallet jacks. Band crates to pallets in a safe and secure manner. Sorting and staging of newly labeled packages by city, location, coding, etc. Use proper methods and equipment to document all damaged cartons. Build pallets in a manner that protects the freight and prevents damage. Perform inventory count based on packing slips when loading and unloading freight and when Maintain good housekeeping around work area. Have knowledge of and utilize safe, efficient freight handling and lifting procedures. Other warehouse duties/ projects as assigned by management. Requirements Must be flexible and able to work required overtime when needed Timely and efficient completion of tasks and responsibilities Excellent attendance history/record Promotes teamwork and cooperative efforts Must be able to perform basic arithmetical calculations including addition, subtractions, division and multiplication Must be able to interact well with others Must be capable of working under tight constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities Physical Demands: Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 20 lbs., occasionally lifting and/or moving objects that weigh more than 70 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. Required to work in hot and cold temperatures.
