Platforms include military force sustainment systems, medical products, water purification, V-22 Osprey vertical takeoff aircraft bearings, fiber optic connectors, energy harvesting, advanced refrigeration, communication systems, hearing protection, acoustics, and subsea systems.ResponsibilitiesSelf-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problemsDesign and prototyping of cutting-edge mechanical systems including CADPerforming experiments in an independent & inventive mannerDocumenting project progressDesired QualificationsExperience designing sheet metal parts for enclosuresExperience designing plastic parts, both prototype and production (injection molding)Experience developing high-temperature systems for commercial or industrial useExperience with basic electrical control systems is a plusModel building experience is desirableAdaptability: broad interest in science and technology with a willingness and interest in expanding into new fields and learning new techniques and skillsExcellent writing skillsSolid understanding of numerical modeling, design of experiments, and prototype fabrication methodsExperience conducting technology assessments and analysis of alternativesProficient with MS OfficeFamiliar with SolidWorksEducation/ExperienceBS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
