Registered Nurse RN- PCU

Summary 14K for 2 years sign on bonus for qualified candidates. This position performs a variety of integrated functions, using the nursing process and a broad nursing knowledge in a caring, concerned manner. Responsibilities (25%) Assesses patient for physical, emotional, psych/social and family support. (25%) Organizes and coordinates all aspects of patient care according to the patient’s real and/or perceived needs. (25%) Evaluates patient progress by correlating patient information with nursing knowledge to determine if goals are being met according to the patient’s plan of care or clinical path. (25%) Consults and collaborates with members of the health care team in planning and implementing total patient care for individuals. Other Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates proficiency in nursing skills to carry out the patient’s plan of care. Communicates interactions, both verbal and written, that clearly and positively accomplish desired patient care as a collaborative effort. Educates patients and families. Provides teaching, support and coordination of health care plans for patient and family through the acute phase of illness, as needed. Promotes clinical knowledge development, including critical thinking skills and improves strategies for comparing clinical judgment through research and continuing education. Has appropriate access to the medication room and supply room for stocking purposes. Other duties as assigned. Certifications and Licensures ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Equivalent experience within 12 months of hire or transfer. DIMC: Dysrhythmia Interpretation Manual – Equivalent experience within 12 months of hire or transfer. BLS: Basic Life Support – Equivalent experience within 3 months of hire or transfer; AHA source. RN: Registered Nurse – Education requirement; Michigan source. TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire or transfer; 24 months to complete for early employees. Required Education Associate degree in nursing (Bachelor's degree preferred). Other Information Completion of orientation process as directed by the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nurse manager and critical care educator. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft® Windows is required; participation in additional learning may be required. PCCN certification preferred. Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, and death. Must wear personal protective equipment, including latex if required. Ability to move freely around the facility and perform job functions as outlined. Vision and hearing need to be adequate, with or without assistive devices. Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk for long periods; may need postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing protocols. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay alert. Dexterity required for handling, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements. Physical demand level: Medium. Occasionally lift or carry 21–50 lbs, frequently 10–20 lbs; may push/pull or use arm/leg controls. #J-18808-Ljbffr
