Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient production operations. You will work closely with supervisors and other team members to perform preventive maintenance, resolve mechanical and electrical issues, and ensure all work complies with safety and regulatory standards. The position requires hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities
  • Work with supervisors and management to perform repairs and preventive maintenance that minimize downtime of manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, production machinery, electrical instruments and control systems, electrical power systems, and process and piping systems.
  • Perform mechanic activities including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance in accordance with OSHA rules, Process Safety Management (PSM) guidelines, and applicable state and local environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and adhere to maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) to support reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts and resources used, and apply appropriate closing codes in the maintenance system.
  • Requisition required repair parts under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Install new equipment and modify existing installations as needed, following electrical and mechanical standards and best practices.
  • Interpret pneumatic system schematics and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, including valves and valve replacements, motors and drive systems, and related components.
  • Interpret electrical and control circuitry schematics, including PLC schematics, to diagnose and resolve electrical issues.
  • Apply knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E standards and regulations when performing daily electrical tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Use electrical test equipment and tools safely and effectively while following established safety precautions.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools, such as control charts and standard deviation, to analyze data and identify trends that support equipment reliability.
  • Use computer-based systems, including CMMS or other maintenance documentation tools, to enter work orders, track maintenance history, and support reporting.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to coordinate work, communicate equipment status, and support manufacturing operations.
  • Lift and move equipment or parts up to 55 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance as part of routine maintenance tasks.
  • Work assigned shifts, including evenings and nights, and be willing to get hands-on and work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of maintenance manufacturing experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance, including mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, production machinery, and process systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including electrical power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to interpret pneumatic system schematics and electrical and control circuitry schematics.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E standards and regulations and ability to apply them in daily electrical tasks.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance (PM) practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial maintenance practices, including use of tools, test equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge of PLC hardware and basic understanding of Ladder Logic programming for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Proficiency and comfort using computers for maintenance documentation, communication, and basic analysis.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills to document work and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-climate-controlled manufacturing conditions and perform hands-on tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through equipment maintenance and reliability improvements.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools, such as control charts and standard deviation, and ability to use them for analysis and trend identification.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar maintenance documentation tools.
  • Exposure to PLC troubleshooting and basic understanding of Ladder Logic programming (preferred).
  • Experience with welding and fabrication in an industrial setting (preferred).
  • Strong safety awareness and prior experience working under OSHA and PSM guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, operations, and leadership.
  • Comfort working with industrial electrical equipment, including motors, drive systems, contactors, starters, relays, switches, power supplies, transformers, and electrical enclosures and wiring devices.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility that produces chemical products for building applications. You will work around industrial equipment, process and piping systems, and production lines, often in a hands-on capacity. The facility operates on multiple shifts, with openings on a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. schedule from Thursday through Saturday and a 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. schedule on other days, requiring comfort with evening and night work. The environment involves exposure to typical industrial conditions, including noise, moving machinery, and chemicals, and requires adherence to strict safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with OSHA and PSM guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Garland, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
