Staff Accountant

The purpose of the class is to provide diversified complex accounting support services to assigned department. The work of the class includes but is not limited to advising or leading county staff; billing; collections; processing accounts; disbursements; and IT input. The class works according to defined procedures; work is regularly reviewed by supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Receives, processes, and enters information regarding county services by processing forms and payments; and coordinating with external parties including insurance companies, attorneys, and/or taxpayers; Collects, processes, and remits Occupancy Tax payments in accordance with local, state, and federal tax and grant procedures; Performs accounting functions for assigned department such as audits, budgets, taxes, account analysis and reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, direct deposits, and reporting; Maintains inventories of county property and leases by updating and reporting changes annually; Performs staff functions by processing time sheets and personnel records; reviewing applications; supervising staff; evaluating work; and providing counseling, training and/or discipline; Monitors department equipment and supplies inventories by performing periodic inventories to verify records; preparing and monitoring contracts for goods and services; preparing purchase orders and payments; and preparing budget amendments and grant reconciliations; Assists with reporting by researching issues and gathering information; Attends staff meetings, in-service training, technical or professional classes, seminars or workshops to improve technical or professional skills of self or staff; and Performs other assigned duties. #J-18808-Ljbffr NACBA
