Position Summary:

Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA, is seeking a RN to join our Cath Lab- department full time. The RN will provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures. Primarily responsible for the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and Interventional cardiac catheterizations. The RN is responsible for assisting in all procedures, providing patient education, assessment and monitoring, administering medications and participating in performance improvement activities. Provides age specific directed care for the adolescent, adult and geriatric individuals, i.e., those tasks necessary for physical care and comfort, supportive tasks and teaching according to standards of care and cultural diversity. Participates in Quality Assurance and practices Infection control policies. Participates in an on call schedule for STEMI interventions. Practice in accordance with state and federal law and health care regulatory standards.

Minimum Education

Current RN licensure from the Virginia State Board of Nursing; Desired: Imaging, Interventional, and Therapeutic Environments Certification.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Knowledge of and proficiency with complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV therapy, moderate sedation, medication and IV solution administration. Ability to function under stress and emergency situations, critical thinking abilities. Effective organization, prioritization, time management and problem-solving skills. Team and goal-oriented yet able to function independently.

Professionalism: Possesses excellent qualities in communication, adaptability, problem solving, attitude, and organization

Certifications:

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) & AHA ACLS required.

Full range of motion of upper and lower extremities. Moving and/or lifting patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushing equipment > 100 pounds. Dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. Standing and/or walking for extensive periods of time. Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable disease and/or body fluid which require the use of body substance isolation precautions.

Minimum Work Experience

Two years critical care or emergency room nursing experience desired.
