Assistant Teacher, Lower School
Barkai Yeshivah is seeking a motivated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our Lower School team. Our Lower School program is designed to inspire a love for learning, encourage curiosity, and foster the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students. The Assistant Teacher will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons while providing individualized support to students.
The Assistant Teacher will play an integral role in classroom management, student support, and the implementation of lesson plans. This role includes assisting with small group instruction, reinforcing learning objectives, and supporting students in building strong academic and social skills. The Assistant Teacher will collaborate closely with the teaching team to meet the needs of each student and create a positive, inclusive classroom environment. The position reports to the Lower School Director. We are seeking a passionate, patient, and dedicated educator who thrives in a collaborative setting and is committed to helping young learners succeed.

Barkai Yeshivah is a traditional, Sephardic elementary school in Brooklyn, NY. Barkai’s mission is to cultivate the unique potential of each ben and bat Torah, based on the belief that all elements of the world should be recognized through the framework of Torah. Our goal is to provide a warm, child-centered environment in which students can develop into lifelong learners and pursuers of knowledge who will become the leaders of the next generation.
Our teachers work collaboratively to facilitate whole class and small group instruction aimed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of each student. Our general studies program develops high-level skills and a depth of knowledge that enables our students to engage in the world as informed, proficient, and discerning citizens. Our Hebrew immersion program helps to further develop our community's strong ties to Eretz Yisrael. Our students emerge with a strong sense of identity, refined character, and compassion to engage in life as dedicated members of Klal Yisrael.
