Float Registered Nurse

Job Responsibilities Provide additional and/or relief coverage as indicated by staff shortages or patient status in varying patient care areas. Perform a full range of professional nursing services, including assessing, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with the team treatment plan. Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physicians and teach and provide psychosocial support to patients. Provide day‑to‑day clinical direction to Mental Health Workers. Document and report patient progress to the treatment team. Qualifications Knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and practices; basic computer usage skills, gained through graduation from an accredited program of nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland and ongoing maintenance of licensure by attending professional meetings, workshops, courses, and in‑service educational sessions. Minimum of one year of inpatient RN experience (or equivalent LPN experience at a ratio of 6 months RN experience per year of LPN experience). Experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred. Analytical ability and sound nursing knowledge for formulation of nursing care plans, implementation of care, and appropriate documentation of pertinent information. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with psychiatrically ill patients, treatment team members, and patients and family members to provide effective health teaching (51‑80% of work time). Additional Requirements Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment. Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation. Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred, but not mandatory. Pay The pay range for this position is $38.45 minimum to $63.37 maximum, determined based on years and level of related experience.
