Marketing and Communications Assistant (Part-Time)

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill two (2) vacancy for the classification of Marketing and Communications Assistant (Part-Time) in the Department of Communications. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under general supervision, performs various marketing and communications related tasks in support of one or more functional areas of the Department of Communications; provides administrative and customer service assistance to City employees and the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Creating engaging social media content to be published on the City's various profiles and platforms.
• Staffing various programs and events to capture high-quality photo and video footage. Capturing B-roll footage to enhance the visual storytelling of videos.
• Planning, editing, and creating engaging high-quality video content for web and social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing fresh ideas for campaign themes and content.
• Performing a variety of support duties including organizing and storing digital assets.
• Ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to connect with a diverse audience, self-driven, energetic, adept to a fast-paced environment, and accomplishing multiple tasks.

Position Information:

• This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position
• This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation
• This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)
• Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need
• May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or the equivalent
• Six (6) months experience in public relations, social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or a closely related field
• Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
• Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license as defined by NRS 483
