Our organization is seeking a psychiatrist for the Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), which includes a dual academic role with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This clinic is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and operates under the Memphis VA Medical Center, being one of the largest among twelve community-based clinics in the Memphis VA clinical network.

The Memphis VA is classified as a 1a complexity tertiary care system, situated in one of the fastest-growing regions for Veterans in the United States. The main facility serves nearly 69,000 Veterans across a 52-county area that includes Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It features 236 inpatient beds, including a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. As a teaching hospital, it offers a comprehensive range of patient care services, equipped with cutting-edge technology, alongside extensive educational and research initiatives. The facility provides a wide array of health care services, covering various medical fields such as cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women’s health, and dentistry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate same-day access to mental health services for Veterans, both in-person and via phone.
• Collaborate effectively with various disciplines and mid-level providers in accordance with licensure and credentialing.
• Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call duties for general psychiatry, sharing responsibilities with fellow psychiatrists, and may provide cross-coverage as needed to meet facility psychiatric service requirements.
• Deliver comprehensive general psychiatric services, with preference given to those experienced in consultation and psychosomatic medicine.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, and work collaboratively with other departments and service lines.
• Engage effectively with individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds, interests, and perspectives.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to the objectives of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
• Utilize technology proficiently for electronic patient records and basic office documentation and communication.

Position Highlights:

• Compensation range: $250,000-$315,000
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with periodic on-call duties
• CME Reimbursement: Up to $2,000 annually (Board Certification required)

Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree
• Completed residency or fellowship in Psychiatry
• Board Eligible/Certified in Psychiatry
• Eligibility for a Faculty Appointment at UTHSC
• Possession of a full and unrestricted medical license from any state
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• U.S. Citizenship
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English
