Commercial Property Accountant

Balcones Real Estate Group, an Austin-based property management and development firm, is seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful Commercial Property Accountant to join our fast-growing team. This position, reporting to the Controller, will oversee the accounting functions for a portfolio of 38 industrial and office buildings totaling 1,600,000 sf. More information can be found at Role Description The Commercial Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role includes preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, and performing account reconciliations for property-level income and expenses. The individual will process accounts payable and receivable, monitor rent rolls and tenant billings, and ensure accurate CAM (common area maintenance) and other operating expense reconciliations. The role also involves supporting annual budgets and forecasts, assisting with audits and lender reporting, and collaborating with asset management and property management teams to provide timely financial insights. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Austin, TX. Qualifications 5 to 10 years of commercial property accounting experience. All aspects of commercial property accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, monthly financial statement packages, budgeting, and CAM reconciliations. Extensive experience with Yardi property management software. All aspects of tenant-related accounting, including familiarity with commercial leases, tenant set-up, charges, billbacks, and terminations. Exposure to Yardi’s Commercial Café platform, including new property and new tenant set-up. Loan draw assistance with invoice tracking and budget category allocations. Interact and communicate with property managers, development team, and ownership.
