Details Level 3 Trauma teaching-exempt hospital with 241 licensed beds, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designation 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit with an average daily census of 32 patients Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8 LPN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio of 1:10 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle Every other weekend rotation required Low census call possible, with callback up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per scope of practice Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, automated medication dispensing, and cardiac monitors Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (10 cameras) to support med verification, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management Epic EMR experience required Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced, patient-centered Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit known for strong team culture Participate in 2-day departmental orientation in addition to New Employee Orientation (NEO) Expected to work approximately 75% of holidays Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be made up at the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met Navy scrub color required Free on-site parking available Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel position First-time travelers are welcome to apply Final clinical interview conducted by the hiring manager American Traveler Job ID P-728757.
