(BGS) is seeking a Technical Closeout Coordinator to supports the US Department of Energy (DOE) in “closeout” of Financial Assistance and other awards for various technical program offices in Golden, Colorado. What a Technical Closeout Coordinator does:
Learns the complex, established accuracy standards for Final Deliverables on DOE awards.
Deliverables include financial, equipment, technical, and invention reporting documents, as well as research-funded publications.
Obtain and review final deliverables from project recipients, following specific guidance, standard operating procedures, and established best practices.
Provide clear feedback to recipients, and collect updates as needed. Regular contact methods include emails, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
Coordinate the approval of completed documents by federal staff, following established procedures.
Communicate daily with internal parties including technical program staff, legal, contracting, and property specialties, as well as external communication with project recipients in academia, nonprofits, and private industry.
Document all award-related actions in a Microsoft Access Database.
Review award closeout packages for peers, to ensure quality and consistency. The final closeout package contains standard documents which verify the completion, review, and accuracy of all the Final Deliverables for the award.
May occasionally assist technology offices with special projects, such as merit reviews, quarterly reporting reviews, or other aspects of active project management.
What personal qualities and skills allow a Technical Closeout Coordinator to thrive in the role? Ability to learn and understand complex regulations, then communicate the expectations clearly to others who are not familiar with them.
Strong personal initiative for productivity and quality. You are expected to manage and complete your workload independently, within deadlines.
Effective organization of multiple tasks and documents, both using established standards and creating personalized workload tracking.
Strong attention to detail. Our client relies on us to ensure final products are 100% correct.
Ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships, using virtual and interpersonal connection methods.
Comfortable navigating as a contractor: communicating expectations and deadlines to recipients, while relying on federal authorities for final approvals.
Ability to identify solutions to challenging questions, by researching established written guidance, online sources, and team mentors.
Personal satisfaction at achieving goals. Responsibilities: Closeout Coordinators may support one or more technology offices including for example: Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies.
Alternative Fuels & Feedstocks.
Building Technologies.
Integrated Energy Systems.
Hydropower and Hydrokinetic.
Industrial Technologies. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (project management, sustainable energy, earth science, energy management, or another related technical discipline).
3+ years of experience.
Self-starter, the ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
Skilled learning and using computer software programs for standard office use.
Ability to balance a high workload with tangible deadlines.
Must be a US citizen.
Successful drug screening.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge. Preferred Qualifications: Professional attitude.
Highly proficient using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experienced, or ability to learn, use of Adobe Pro.
Experience working within an Energy sector.
Experience in grant management.
Advanced Excel and database skills. Location/Work Arrangement: This position is located in Golden, CO and is a Hybrid Work Arrangement.
Employees in this role are expected to report on site a minimum of 2 days per week.
Schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week. Benefits: BGS offers a competitive total compensation package to eligible employees. Starting compensation for this role typical salary ranges between $80,000 and $90,000 annually is commensurate with experience relative to the position and may vary based on candidate geographical location.
