We are seeking a skilled Arborist to join our team, dedicated to the health and maintenance of trees and landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tree care practices, including pruning, airspade services, cable installations, and complex removals. This role requires both technical skills and a passion for trees. Proficiency in tree climbing is a must. Applicants for this position must show competency in SRS systems, MRS systems, using spikes, limb walking, rigging, and felling trees safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform simple to complex tree removals which may require climbing
• Operate a 100’ spider lift safely and proficiently
• Operate a large chipper safely and proficiently
• Operate a miniskid safely and proficiently
• Drive a company truck and trailer safely and proficiently (including backing up trailers in tight residential areas).
• Utilize rigging techniques to safely lower branches and sections of trees.
• Properly prune trees in accordance with industry best practices.
• Conduct assessments of tree health and provide recommendations for care.
• Perform advanced tree health services such as airspading and chemical treatments.
• Properly install steel and dynamic cable systems.
• Lead less experienced members to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
• Regularly conduct JSAs (job safety analysis) and crew debriefs to monitor and improve safety and efficiency.
• Train less experienced crew members in a wide array of tasks related to tree work.
• Assist in maintaining company trucks, heavy equipment, tools, and PPE in good working condition.

Required Skills

• ISA certification (required for the hourly pay advertised)
• Strong climbing ability
• Ownership & integrity
• Risk assessment and hazard awareness
• Experience with felling trees and using large saws
• Experience with ropes, knots, rigging tools and systems
• Leadership ability
• Mechanical skills (preferred)
